We had a great week in 4P this week, highlighted by an assembly on Friday where we got to watch Ms. Mendez being taped to the wall in the gym! Thanks to everyone who donated for this great cause....we raised over $66 in our classroom alone!
Here's a snapshot of what's been going on in the classroom:
Also, we are planning on sharing our student created dances with parents on March 19th in the Hatch Auditorium from 10-10:30. Mark your calendars!
Thanks to all those who are participating in the One Book One School program! We are loving reading The Lemonade War! If you have not had a chance to read it or are behind in the reading, don't worry. There is still time to catch up!

Thanks to all the parents who helped out with our Valentine's Day party in 4P, especially Kristin Rakshys, who organized the event. The activities were awesome and all of the students had fun!
Here are some highlights from last week and a peek into next week:
We are moving along in Module 4 in Math (Angle measurement and plane figures). Students are now learning how to use a protractor to measure angles. Next week, we will be using our knowledge of straight angles (180 degrees) to determine the size of unknown angles. Students will also be using pattern blocks to estimate angle size.
Next week, we will also begin using a web based online math learning tool called ST Math. Students will be working at the their own pace to solve math problems to help Jiji (the penguin) reach her goal. Our class is piloting the program over the next few months. More information about the program will be coming home next week.
We are nearly finished with our literary essays! I'm very excited about the progress everyone has made...we will finish our final drafts next week and share them with each other in the classroom.
Students are continuing to read and learn about the American Revolution using reading skills such as summarizing and synthesizing. Next week we will begin to prepare for our class celebration of the end of the unit....simulating a debate between loyalists and patriots (like what happened during the first Continental Congress).
Hopefully everyone is reading our One Book, One School book, "The Lemonade War". Here are the reading deadlines for next week:
Tuesday, Feb 18th: Chapter 4 (pages 41-58)
Thursday, Feb 20th: Chapter 5 (pages 59-66)
Friday, Feb 21st: Chapter 6 (pages 67-86)
Be sure to look here for discussion questions to help foster conversation at home!
