We had a great week of learning in 4P! We finished our reading and math MAP tests and I'm very excited about our growth! Here are a few highlights from the week and a peek at the week ahead:
We will finish our math Module 3 Topics A-G summative assessment on Tuesday and also take a pre test for the final Topic (Topic H, double digit multiplication).
We have begun our American Revolution unit in reading....students are learning note-taking strategies and working on summarizing and synthesizing. Students will be picking a topic in the next week or two to research and create a "book" about.
In writing, we have chosen our thesis statements for our literary essays and will be working on fleshing them out with examples from the text next week.
Students are enjoying learning expression through movement in our lessons with Hubbard Street Dance!
Student Council fund raiser: The Hatch Student council will be raising money for The World Wildlife Fund of Australia as part of their January Spirit Day. Anyone who brings a donation of a dollar or more can wear pajamas on Friday, January 24, and know that they’re helping the continent of Australia, and the surviving creatures there. Almost 1 billion animals have been lost to the wildfires, and hundreds of thousands more have been injured, lost their habitats, or been displaced. Please send in donations for the WWF- Australia anytime during the week of January 20-24.
Just a reminder that we have no school this Monday in honor of Martin Luther King's incredible life and accomplishments. We will be having a school-wide assembly to celebrate his life on Friday, January 31st. We also have half days on Thursday, January 30th and Friday, January 31st for conferences. Students will be dismissed at 10:55am.
