We had a great week of learning and fun in 4P this week....we voted for our 2 student council representatives today and the winners are....Khangal and Izzy A.! Congratulations to all the candidates for putting together great campaigns including super speeches!
A few updates:
We took our mid module assessment in math today (place value and rounding) and we will move on to the second half of the unit starting Monday (multi-digit addition and subtraction and one and two-part word problems). Students will receive their graded mid module assessments on Monday.
Students are continuing to write their realistic fiction stories....this week we learned how to make our settings "sparkle" with detail such as not only where and when, but also sights sounds and even smells! Today read a mentor story called "Spencer Bellhorn is Not a Wimp" and studied the techniques the author used to write such a page turner.
In reading, we continue to read fiction stories of our own choosing....next week, students will study how to look for (and write about character change in their story). We are a little over halfway done with our mentor read-aloud text called "The Tiger Rising".
Lastly, look for a Sign Up Genius email from me this weekend to sign up for Fall conferences. I will be holding conferences after school on Wednesday, October 23rd and after our half day of school on Thursday, October 24th.
Here are a few pictures of 4P in action!
