We had a great week of learning and fun in 4P this week...we especially had fun playing in the snow at recess this week! Here are a few highlights:
In Math, we have begun Module 4 and are learning about types of angles (right, obtuse, acute and straight) and types of lines (perpendicular and parallel). Next week week we will begin using protractors to measure angle sizes and also learn different types of triangles.
We are continuing to read books and articles on the American Revolution. This past week, we worked on synthesizing information from two sources. We will continue that work next week and also practice summarizing.
Our literary essays are coming along really well and we hope to finish them next week! I'm so proud of how hard we've worked on these!
Next week, we will be celebrating Valentines Day on Friday with a party in the classroom at the end of the day. That day we will also be celebrating 90 Tiger Heads with movie/gum/candy day! Way to go 4P! Also, we will be kicking off our second annual One Book One School program....students will be receiving copies of the book (to be revealed Tuesday) and will be reading as a school community. This is a great way to foster reading and our students are really looking forward to it.
If your child is interested in participating in the Hatch Talent Show this year, permission slips are due February 14th (next Friday). It's the purple sheet I passed out at conferences. If you need a new one, let me know.
Student Council is raising money for the Yes We Can World Foundation which provides education, activities and safety to families stuck at the Mexico/US border. Students can bring in $1.00 through the week of February 17th and will get the chance to duct tape Ms. Mendez to wall! I will be collecting donations in the classroom.
Here are a few pictures of our students in action!
